The 638 meter long Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge, with a 76 meter long bascule section that can be raised for passing ships, stands as an iconic symbol of Kuala Terengganu's vision as a sustainable 'Water Coastal Heritage City'.
Introduction
Visit to Drawbridge
Last Saturday, my family and I had the opportunity to visit the Terengganu Drawbridge located in Kuala Terengganu. This experience is amazing and full of interesting activities that can be done around this area. We followed the path of the village close to Seberang Takir Village Mosque to the drawbridge.
We arrived at Drawbridge early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The view of the sunrise from the bridge is breathtaking, with the golden sky reflecting off the water. We managed to cycle along the footpaths provided on both sides of the bridge. This path is wide enough and comfortable for all age groups.

The yellow box is a list of days weekend to visit while the green box is a day weekday. Tickets can also be purchased at the Drawbridge entrance.

Gallery & Lookout Tower
After enjoying the morning view, we headed to the gallery in one of the Drawbridge towers. This gallery displays the history of bridge construction, the technology used, as well as various interesting information about Terengganu. On the top floor of the tower, there is an observation deck that allows visitors to enjoy the panorama of the city of Kuala Terengganu and its surroundings from a height. This scenery is perfect for photography, especially for lovers of visual arts.
Relaxing Afternoon at Pilecap Cafe
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit PILE CAP CAFE which is located under the Kuala Terengganu Lift Bridge area. This cafe was opened on 17 July 2024 and has become the latest attraction in this area. With a beautiful view overlooking the river, Pilecap Cafe offers a relaxing and soothing atmosphere. Although going down and up the stairs, it's worth it to get the experience.
The seating area located outside the cafe provides a direct view of the river and the majestic drawbridge. This atmosphere is perfect for relaxing & healing in the evening while enjoying a cup of coffee. Furthermore, if you want to bring your own healing chair, you can enjoy the sunset at the mouth of the Terengganu river.
In addition to enjoying food, visitors can also take the opportunity to stroll around the Lift Bridge and enjoy the beautiful scenery at night when the bridge is lit up with colorful lights.
Night at the Drawbridge: Light Show
As night falls, the Drawbridge takes center stage with a mesmerizing light show. Colorful lights are installed along the bridge, making the atmosphere very romantic and magical. We took this opportunity to stroll while enjoying the night breeze. Many other visitors also come to witness this light show while enjoying food from nearby stalls.
Weekend at Drawbridge
Let's heal and hang out at Pilecap Cafe which offers a calm atmosphere with a stunning view of the drawbridge and the surrounding sea. It makes an ideal place to relax and enjoy food and drink. Suitable for those who are fond of photography to take pictures of the sunset at Drawbridge.
The towers are designed with modern architecture and equipped with colorful lights, making them the main focus at night. Each of these towers also houses facilities for visitors to enjoy the amazing view from a height.
Foodtrucks at Dataran Drawbridge Terengganu offer a variety of interesting food and drinks, perfect for visitors who want to enjoy a leisurely meal while enjoying the iconic drawbridge view. From local dishes like nasi kerabu and satay, to western food like burgers and pasta, the food trucks here provide something for every taste. The lively atmosphere and diverse food options make this square an ideal place to relax with family and friends.
This square is often the location of various interesting events that attract the attention of locals and tourists. Commonly held events include food festivals, music concerts and performances, sales fairs, bazaars, sports and health activities, expos and exhibitions and much more.
