Introduction

Events in Kuala Telemong, Hulu Terengganu, in 1928 was an important point in the history of the state of Terengganu. At that time, the farmers from Kuala Telemong gathered with the purpose of meeting with Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alam Shah in Kuala Terengganu. Unfortunately, reports reached the Sultan stating that these farmers intended to rebel. As a result, Sultan Sulaiman ordered the police to prevent their movement in Padang Kachung. When the police confronted the farmers, tension arose and the situation became out of control. Finally, the police opened fire killing twelve farmers who were fighting for their rights.
